    Jane & others,
    There are many souces of calcium. Which one is better: carbonate, threonate, oyster shells, from yogurt ( I dónt know the souce)?

    I saw calcium threonate is much more expensive than others.

    For 60 year old mom, how much is enough? Count on calcium element only, doesn't matter what source?
    (My mom used to take 1000mg Ca from carbonate, then she changes to threonate. I check and see only 100mg Ca).

    For thirty something mom, do I need it? How much? Or from food íts enough.

      It would be best to take TUMS EX (Extra Strenghth) which contains 600mg of calcium carbonate each, as daily calcium
      supplement; i.e. 2 each a day.

      Why? if one buys a large bottle of TUMS from warehouse store, it is the cheapest form of most effective calcium.

      The rate of absorption is the same for the two different forms, carbonate or threonate; rather, it depends on the individual.

      Don't buy the expensive brands, they are a big waste of your money.

      Thirty + women can take irregularly TUMS 600mg a day; when get older, do it daily.
